Offshore fishing or Inshore fishing- what to expect
Offshore fishing trips usually entail trolling (slow-running lures seeking fish), drifting off or anchoring on structures/reefs/sunken vessels and lastly, the term "run and gun" technique (its riding offshore at a decent speed attempting to locate fish). Depending on the sea-conditions will determine your sea-legs. If you don't want to get too worn-out, the other option would be inshore. Most of your wave action inside the bay is usually between 1-2 foot waves (on most days). This is due to the depth of the water which ranges from 20 feet in the channels to 1 foot or less on the flats. (Important to note!- if you are susceptible to motion-sickness regardless of the sea condition, make sure you take your medication prior to your trip on any vessel in order for it to be effective!) South Florida has many top fishing guides which will get you onto fish but I like to have my clients not only enjoy our beautiful bounty of resources but see a different (more fun-side) to boating down here. Imagine fishing from morning to noontime catching/releasing fish (depending on what we’re chasing) and then motor over to one of the numerous sand-bars to end a great day of fishing relaxing. Now, while you are relaxing, a fresh meal is being prepared for you while you wade on the sand bar discovering all its beauty it has to offer. Or, maybe you just want to recline back in a folding chair in the bay’s warm/therapeutic water smoking cigar with beverage in hand. With the so many sandbars to choose from, you can choose to be with party revelers or secluded away from it all; the choice is all yours! This to me is the ultimate south Florida experience : catch fish in the morning, then relax stress free on a sandbar having grilled food! The location of the vessel is located in Biscayne Bay which is minutes away from either offshore or inshore grounds. So, there is no trailering or hassle at any marina or boat ramp.
What I provide on each trip:
-All bait and fishing tackle (see captain’s page for more information on fishing tackle used)
-Ice / water, 2 coolers on board (one for fish, the other for food/drinks)
- bring your cooler if you wish to take fish home
-Fishing license and permits for all aboard. (Vessel and occupants fully insured)
